This session will explores how countries can better utilise existing data to improve road safety through stronger inter-agency cooperation and integration.
While substantial information is already collected, much of its potential remains untapped. In an era of Big Data, AI and rapidly evolving technologies, the webinar will ask whether the main barriers are still technical or increasingly related to institutional ownership, data sharing and organisational culture. Drawing on international experience and practical examples, including AI-assisted data processing, it will explore how even fragmented or inconsistent datasets can be transformed into actionable information without major investments or new systems.
The session will encourage moving beyond recurring discussions on data limitations towards practical solutions. Meanwhile, as we struggle to integrate relatively small traditional databases, vast amounts of data are already being generated by vehicles, cameras, mobile networks and sensors, leaving little time to adapt. The webinar will conclude with practical steps that institutions can take immediately to connect existing data, improve cooperation and achieve tangible benefits through better risk identification, targeted investments and more effective road safety decisions.
