This report, prepared by the World Bank and funded by the European Union, explores the technological readiness of Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries to adopt emerging road safety and sustainability technologies, such as: (i) Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), (ii) Electric Vehicles (EVs), (iii) AI-based safety tools and (iv) Driver Telematics.

While these technologies are increasingly deployed in high-income countries, their implementation in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), particularly in the EaP region, faces multiple barriers including infrastructural limitations, outdated vehicle fleets, and a lack of institutional and societal preparedness.
